Repeat transurethral resection (re-TUR) remains the standard procedure for high-grade T1 non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer. However, en block resection together with improved imaging modalities (photodynamic diagnosis) may reduce the risk of persistent disease and/or upstaging at re-TUR. Thus, re-TUR may be spared in selected patients with a complete initial resection with well-represented and tumor-free detrusor muscle in the specimen, with a significant impact on patients' quality of life and health care costs.Copyright © 2023.
